Website Development Tools

Here are some facts on website developing tools such as WordPress, HTML, Wix, and Joomla. My impression on the sites and some positive and negative aspects of each website development tool.

Word Press: WordPress is an easy blogging tool that allows you to create a blog regardless of skill level or knowledge of HMTL. WordPress is preferred by many businesses because it is ready as is, and can be customized in a variety of different ways. WordPress is easy, you can blog on this platform, send emails. You are able to customize your blog without having to put a whole lot of work or effort into it. You have the option of making subpages, which allows you to stay organized. While there are many positives to using WordPress. Some negatives with this blogging platform is that it isn't the best tool if you are creating in-depth content. It also isn't very secure, and it is easy for people to access or hack. While the internet and sites are always evolving. WordPress might not be able to get you to the place you want to go with your blog and you may outgrow it eventually. I feel that despite the negatives it offers many positive aspects and whether your a big business or small starter upper, it offers a variety of ways to be creative and successful.

HTML: I found HTML to be difficult to learn, and took a while to grasp the concept. It was very sensitive, and with one misspelled word or comma in the wrong spot it would not work and be highly frustrating. It also didn't allow me to design creatively and kept it pretty basic with designing and laying out my website.  Despite the difficulty of learning how to create an HTML having this knowledge and knowing how to write HTML can make you more marketable and sought after. It is also easy to edit an HTML site, and is good for spacing and editing while working in groups. There are many sites that help you go step by step in creating HTML and they are very helpful.

Wix: I really enjoyed working with Wix website builder. It offered over 200 different beautiful templates to pick and choose from, it also has so many different adds on- where you can add surveys, forms, shopping carts, etcetera. The free option offers you complete access to everything you need in order to build your perfect website.  Some negatives I found is that once you pick a template, you cannot change it. There are also advertisements which show up on the page whenever you hit the publish button. Advertisement credit goes to the service provider of the website builder. These can be removed only when you upgrade to their premium package.

Joomla: Joomla  is used across the globe for developing a variety of websites. Joomla is an open source and  is completely free to access, with an ever growing community of developers who constantly work to improve the software. It can easily be migrated to any server and configured with any database. Creating content is simple with the editor, giving even the novice users the ability to combine text and images in a visually appealing manner. Once the articles are created, there are number of pre-installed modules to show the most popular articles, latest new items, newsflashes, related articles, and many more things. Setting up banners on websites is extremely easy with its banner manager. You can add campaigns and as many banners as required. Some disadvantages if Joomla is it only offers limited customization, and it requires plug-ins for certain scripts. It also is quite heavy and is not good for small or simple websites, and you cannot allocate different pages to different CSS..
