CSS

CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets. It is designed to specify the overall appearance of web pages as well as the appearance and structure of the text and elements such as images and buttons on the layout of the web-page. Styles can be specified with CSS using internal style sheet definitions which are placed right into HTML code or in  files.

CSS allows for better control of web pages during their development. They are linked into other documents throughout the site and gives you command over a wide variety of the aesthetics.

CSS is used so that the HTML document is not cluttered, so that the document contains no markup, only semantic and structural.
